David Lynch Directs 16-Minute Dior Ad

By Kiran Aditham

Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard makes good on her Lady Dior contract yet again by following up her collab with Franz Ferdinand and Jonas Akerlund with this new, much lengthier short film/advert directed by David Lynch. Yes, that David Lynch, the one who boggled the mind (not like his previous efforts didn’t) most recently with the double-whammy of Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire, yet hasn’t directed a feature since the latter 2006 film.

Speaking to the Financial Times, Lynch explains why he joined the Dior campaign, saying, “They called me up and said, ‘Would you like to make a short film for the internet? You can do anything you want, you just need to show the handbag, the Pearl Tower and some old Shanghai.'” Just as vague as the Twin Peaks mastermind’s quote is, so is this latest noir-y, well-shot web promo.
