Crowdsourced Pabst Purchase Bid Nears $15 Mil

By Kiran Aditham

There’s a still a long way to go, but after three weeks, the folks at Hollywood, CA firm Forza Migliozzi report that their crowdsourced bid to purchase Pabst Brewing Company has reached the $14.75 million mark.

FM teamed up with New York-based The Ad Store to launch BuyaBeerCompany.com and take Pabst up on its offer to sell the company to anyone who can come up with $300 million. So far, with the help of word-of-mouth on Twitter, Facebook and blogs, the group reports that 750,000+ people have pledged funds to buy up the brand whose Blue Ribbon has been a fave of the hipster set among others for years.

They’ve got quite the mountain to climb still, but if you’ve got at least $5 to spend (and are of drinking age, of course), you’ll get a “crowdsourced certificate of ownership suitable for framing as well as enough beer matching your ownership.” So in Blue Ribbon terms, $5 could probably buy you at least a 3-pack.
