CP+B L.A. promoted Kevin Jones to the position of chief creative officer.

In the new role Jones will lead the creative department of CP+B Los Angeles office while overseeing the agency’s PayPal, NBA 2K and Charles Schwab accounts. He will also lead work on CP+B’s global Infiniti account, which the agency recently decided to move to its Los Angeles office.

Jones joined CP+B from W+K back in December of 2014 and has served as an executive creative director leading the Los Angeles office’s creative department since. He served as creative director for W+K beginning in 2009, working on high-profile campaigns for brands such as Chrysler, Dodge, Target, Nike and T-Mobile. That followed a shorter stint as creative director for the agency from 2006-2007, before leaving for a fiction fellowship at The University of Texas at Austin. Before that he spent four years as a freelance creative director and copywriter, for agencies including W+K, GS&P, Publicis and Grey, following three years as senior vice president, creative director at Hal Riney. He originally joined W+K as a copywriter back in 1994, leaving to take a vice president, creative director position at Cole & Weber in 1997.

“Kevin’s brilliant without being crazy or a prima donna, and he understands exactly what makes great work,” said CP+B chairman Chuck Porter. “We’re currently attempting to clone him.”

News of the promotion follows that of Robin Fitzgerald, who was named executive creative director last week. Fitzgerald will report to Jones, and both were promoted at the same time internally.
