Corey Mitchell Out at MRM

By Kiran Aditham

We’ve been hearing about this since last week, and now we’ve received confirmation that Corey Mitchell, EVP/MD at MRM’s New York office, will be leaving the agency on or around Feb. 15. From what our spies tell us, Mitchell was “pushed out” of MRM, but the agency says, “None of this came as a surprise to most employees.” Clients and internal teams have been notified, according to sources familiar with the matter, and Mitchell is “working on transitioning” as we speak. We had a feeling something was up when the MRM camp was telling us about a “new strategy and vision” in their response regarding Mitchell’s departure.

Mitchell joined MRM in the fall of 2008 after spending nine years at TBWA, beginning at the network’s Sydney office before eventually joining TBWA\Chiat\Day NY as worlwide MD on Mars then being bumped up to president of said office and TBWA digital/direct marketing unit, Tequila.

Update: MRM also confirmed that Fern Goldstein, who was recently promoted to head of strategy, is leaving the agency for a media sales gig at an Omnicom agency. Goldstein had been with MRM for seven years and we’re being told that the departure was amicable.
