Cool Kids, Foot Locker Serve Up Fresh Nike Kicks

By Bob Marshall

Just in time for warm weather and the NBA playoffs, Foot Locker and Nike have joined forces to create this animated music video/advertisement that features an exclusive track from Chicago/Detroit-based rap duo, the Cool Kids. Featuring NBA stars Amar’e Stoudemire and Chris Bosh, NFL speedster DeSean Jackson and a guest appearance from recently retired MLB legend Ken Griffey Jr., “Fresh Air” keeps Foot Locker positioned as the “hip” athletic retail store.

The campaign’s website gives an interactive look at Nike’s new Air Max line of athletic shoes. Who knew footwear could look so appetizing when Junior serves them up on a steaming hot platter? Most surprising is Foot Locker, Nike Europe and Peet Kegler’s ability to “get” the Cool Kids’ style of vintage, golden-age hip-hop. Hanging out with your pro athlete buddies has never looked like a more fun summer day activity.
