Code and Theory launched a new spot for Burger King, promoting the chain’s limited-time offering of Cheesy Tots by reuniting Napolean Dynamite stars Jon Heder (Napolean) and Efren Ramirez (Pedro).
That movie’s “Give Me Some Of Your Tots” scene is probably the most memorable tater tot-referencing moment in pop culture (actually, it might be the only one we can remember) so the connection makes sense. If you’re familiar with Napolean Dynamite’s brand of humor, you know that “cheesy” is another appropriate connection.
That brand of goofy charm is on display in the ad and fans of the movie will likely be stoked to see the pair make a return and the Cheesy Tots are apparently a limited time menu offering Burger Kings fans have been clamoring for.
Sadly, not a single llama makes an appearance.
“Fans have been craving the return of Cheesy Tots for some time now,” Burger King president, North America Alex Macedo said in a statement. “So we wanted to give loyalists a holiday surprise after we heard so many of their requests. Now they’ll be able to warm up to these cozy cheese and potato bites this holiday season.”
Now can we stop for a minute and thank the quirky movie gods that never planned a Napoleon Dynamite sequel?
