Carl’s Jr. Auctioning Off Miss Turkey’s Bikini

By Bob Marshall

A little over a month ago, we brought you this new spot from Carl’s Jr./Hardees that introduced the slow-motion, bikini-clad sexy sandwich guzzler, “Miss Turkey.” At the time, I criticized the ad and agency David&Goliath for doing the same thing that the fast food giant’s former AOR, Mendelsohn Zien, did years before: make a hot girl in a bikini eat Carl’s Jr. food in slow-motion.

Instead of shying away from the criticism that I and others directed toward the company, Carl’s Jr. responded in a big way, issuing a statement saying, “We believe in putting hot models in our commercials, because ugly ones don’t sell burgers.” Good point, and fair enough. And, to further stand behind the company’s new mantra, Carl’s Jr. is now auctioning off the very bikini “Miss Turkey” wore in the original spot on eBay. Don’t think anyone cares about buying an bikini with turkey sandwiches on it that once touched the bare skin of model Gizem Memic? Well, the current bid on eBay is over $2000 and growing, with all proceeds going to benefit “Stars for Troops,” a new charity started by Carl’s Jr./Hardees for military families and veterans. Touche, Carl’s Jr.
