Cannes Picks Three More Jury Presidents

By Bob Marshall

With the 2011 Cannes Lions festival coming up rapidly, the organizers have appointed three more advertising execs to head the prestigious juries.

Among those keeping Film/Press Jury president Tony Granger company on the French Riviera this time around are R/GA EVP and CCO Nick Law, who will preside over the Cyber Jury. A 10-year R/GA vet, Law has received internationally award-winning acclaim including during a period where he served as ECD of the agency’s Nike account.

Leading the Outdoor jury is Publicis Worldwide CCO Olivier Altmann, a 24-year advertising veteran who joined Publicis in 2004. Under Altmann’s leadership, Publicis made major inroads in Europe, and the man’s résumé includes two years as head of Cannes’ Eurobest Jury.

Finally, Ogilvy and Mather Asia Pacific Regional ECD Eugene Cheong (pictured) will serve as the Radio Jury President. The Cannes flack boasts that Cheong carries the reputation of being Asia’s “most awarded copywriter and creative director” and has more Gold Lions and Gold One Show awards than anyone else in said continent. Cheong’s 18-year history with Ogilvy includes positions in London, L.A. and across Asia, while his eyewear choices are as fashionable as they are functional.
