Blake Ebel Resigns from Euro Chicago

By Kiran Aditham

Just a few months after getting promoted to chief creative officer at Euro RSCG Chicago to share the title with Steffan Postaer, we’ve come to learn that Blake Ebel is leaving the agency for a lead role in Denver. From what sources are telling us, Ebel’s destination is Factory Labs in the Mile High City.

The agency sent us this official statement:

“After six years at Euro RSCG Chicago, Co-Chief Creative Officer Blake Ebel has accepted a new position at an independent boutique agency in Denver, Colorado. We wish Blake and his family the very best in this next stage of his career and thank him for his role in helping grow Euro RSCG Chicago into the agency that it is today. Steffan Postaer will continue in his role as chief creative officer of Euro RSCG Chicago while we aggressively search for a replacement for Blake.”

One spy sums it up, telling us, “…this is yet another blow to the agency after recently losing Briar Waterman, the head of digital and Zain [Raj] the COO…as well as losing Barilla pasta and Val[s]par paints.”

Update: Yep, it’s Factory Design Labs (whose clients include Audi of America and The North Face) and Ebel will take on the role of chief creative officer. Here’s a statement from the firm’s CEO Scott Mellin below:

“I’m thrilled that Blake will join the Factory team. We screened more than 100candidates from around the world for this role and I sincerely believe that wehave found the perfect partner. Our criteria was very rigorous: with a focus on quality, a dedication to our clients’ business models and their customers, and the ability to earn the trust of our clients [through] excellence in creative execution.”
