Big Fuel Welcomes New MD in Detroit

By Kiran Aditham

Newly acquired agency Big Fuel has appointed Robert Anderson as EVP, managing director of its Detroit office, which GM’s social media AOR opened at the end of last year. Anderson has spent most of his advertising career on the creative side, with his most recent gig being a three-year stint as an ECD at Rapp Collins Dallas, which hired him in 2007 to oversee CRM programs for clients like Best Buy, Hyatt and Bank of America. During his career, he’s served as creative director at the likes of FCB, Digitas and oversaw the development of Ogilvy’s direct marketing office in South Korea early on.

In our opinion, though, Anderson’s life outside of advertising is much more intriguing as the man’s climbed Mount Everest a few times, led expeditions up other mountains in Nepal, flew Russian planes to the North Pole and even wrote three books about his journeys. Hey, moving to Detroit can be just as adventurous, though.

In addition to Anderson, Big Fuel promoted  Deb Michael to group director, account management,  Whitney Drake to group director, brand channel management and hired Laurent Stanovich as group director of strategy. Current headcount in BF’s Detroit digs stands at 35.
