BBDO New York Explains that ADC Cubes are ‘Rare for a Reason’

By Erik Oster

BBDO New York launched a campaign for the Art Directors Club Annual Awards, comparing the likelihood of winning an ADC Cube against some other less-than-common scenarios to underscore that the awards are “Rare for a Reason.”

In “Cousins” a couple with a striking resemblance kisses over music that may or may not be taken from a porn soundtrack. Near the end of the spot, text delivers the message that “More people are married to their cousins than have ever won an ADC Cube. Two other spots compare the likelihood of winning the award to the number of people who suffer sex toy injuries and die while taking selfies. The former message is tied to footage of a cat playing with a vibrator, which may not completely fit the message but is entertaining nonetheless. Each spot ends with a reminder of the deadline for entries (February 8 for advertising, January 29 for digital).
