Well, we had this on the draft burner as we got the newswire link at this time and now the PR folks have stepped in to tell us that Kansas City-based Barkley has indeed been named agency of record for American Dairy Queen Association, which is perhaps better known as Dairy Queen or DQ for us lazy linguists.
Barkley, home to that Boulder startup Grenadier among other things, takes over for Grey on the DQ biz (which ended a 15-year relationship with said agency two months ago). According to a statement from the brand’s EVP of marketing David Westrum, “We are confident that Barkley will showcase the DQ brand not only as the treat category leader, but as something different and something better. Their campaign will continue to reinforce the brand’s positioning as contemporary and relevant for today’s consumer.”
