An Austin Acquisition Unfolds: McGarrah Jessee Buys Up Exopolis

By Kiran Aditham

Ahh, so now, it all makes sense and h/t to an old friend on this one. After receiving tips from six weeks ago about the apparent “closing” of Austin-based digital agency Exopolis, which to refresh your memory was previously acquired by Austin Ventures over two years ago, the digital shop has once again been bought up by fellow Austin agency, McGarrah Jessee. You might most recently remember the latter operation from its “Mants” work for Haggar.

The 11-year-old Exopolis, meanwhile, is crucial to its new owner’s digital growth, according to a statement from McGJ co-founder Mark McGarrah, who says in a statement, “Digital experience is an integral component of the work we do for clients, and we expect everyone in the agency to be fluent in digital concepts. The addition of Exopolis deepens our core digital team and capabilities, which will strengthen the whole agency.” Current McGarrah Jessee clients include the likes of Shiner Beers, Whataburger, Frost Bank, Costa Sunglasses, Guitar Center and, yes, Haggar.
