Allstate Names Former MillerCoors Head of Marketing as SVP, Product Marketing

By Erik Oster

Allstate appointed Gannon Jones as senior vice president, product marketing earlier this month, following a recent change in direction for the brand’s advertising, spearheaded by agency Leo Burnett Chicago.

Last night a company spokesperson wrote, “Gannon joined Allstate earlier this month as Senior Vice President, product marketing.”

You may recall that Jones parted ways with MillerCoors, where he had served as head of brand marketing, last November shortly after the company named 72andSunny as creative lead on the Coors Light account.

At the time, MillerCoors told Adweek that they were “actively recruiting” for Jones’ replacement, but the company has yet to announce a new head of brand marketing.

Jones arrived at MillerCoors as vice president of brand marketing in 2013, following three years as chief marketing officer for PepsiCo’s Global Nutrition Group, where he led global marketing and branding strategy for brands including Tropicana and Quaker. Before that he spent four years as vice president, marketing for PepisCo’s FritoLay, working on brands including Lays, Ruffles, SunChips, Rold Gold, Miss Vickies and Smartfood.

He played a pivotal role in assigning Miller Lite to TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles and, according to various sources close to the matter, also led the decision to move Coors Light from Cavalry to 72andSunny.

MillerCoors sent Miller Lite to 180LA without a review in April. TBWA Los Angeles went through a round of downsizing the following month.
