AdAge, Adweek Publish (Mostly) Unsurprising Top Agency Lists

By Kiran Aditham

As we slowly grind through this messy Monday, we now know which agencies are nearest and dearest to AdAge and Adweek’s precious hearts. With account wins like Viagra and Maxwell House and the marketing assault for Droid, McGarryBowen has taken AdAdge’s Agency of the Year honors while Adweek opted for The Martin Agency.

The latter pub complemented its AOTY bestowing with a little one-on-one convo with Martin’s incoming CCO John Norman, using familiar textbook questions like “What do you bring to this agency?” and such. Adweek also picked JWT as Global Agency of the Year and surprise, surprise, R/GA as Digital Agency of the Year.

Martin Agency meanwhile took #4 on AdAge’s A-List, which also includes Euro RSCG at #2, DraftFCB at #5, Alma DDB at #7, Firstborn at #8 and most surprisingly, Arkansas interactive shop Rockfish (whose clients include Walmart and Sam’s Club) at #3. Finally, AdAge sister pub Creativity chose Mother as its AOTY.

Whether you agree or not, at least we can take solace in the fact that there is some disparity between the choices made by the rival ad publications. What we can’t take though is the subsequent and expected lathering that comes with it.
