A World Series is All About Sacrifice

By Bob Marshall

Last year, I frequented Chicago’s “Wisconsin-themed” bar on the north side, Will’s Northwoods Inn. There’s truly nothing like being surrounded by hundreds of taxidermied animals while watching the Packers sprint to a Super Bowl. I’m not saying that watching every game there with the same Packers hoodie, boxers, cheeshead, t-shirt and socks and beer choice (Leinenkugel’s Original) was the deciding factor in the Packers lifting the Lombardi trophy at the end of the year. But, hey, it certainly didn’t hurt, did it?

BBDO San Francisco’s latest spots for Comcast appeal to this sort of sports superstition that, at times, we’ve all experienced in one way or another. If you’re the San Francisco Giants, you’re hungry for another World Series. And, with the Giants currently two games up on the Diamondbacks and leading the NL West, they need some help, even if that means your daughter’s pet hamster gets “lost.” The campaign also features a “Help the Giants Win” landing page where fans can tweet what rituals they did last year. One more bone-breaking spot and credits after the jump.
