72andSunny to Open a New Office in Sydney, Australia

By Patrick Coffee

Los Angeles-based 72andSunny is going down under.

Today multiple parties confirm that the MDC Partners network will soon open a fourth office … in Sydney, Australia. Beyond its L.A. headquarters, 72andSunny also has operations in New York and Amsterdam.

Details remain sparse at this time, and agency representatives declined to comment. But we hear that members of 72’s team have been in the Sydney area recently, hiring local talent and even approaching their agencies’ clients.

This isn’t the only recent move for 72andSunny. Its New York City location, which scored a writeup from one Stuart Elliott back in 2014 and a full Digiday profile a couple of months later, officially moved from lower Manhattan to DUMBO this week to be closer to the setting for at least 45% of all new car campaigns. Here’s the Adweek story complete with pics of one very large staircase.

As far as the reasons behind the Australia move, 72andSunny’s U.S. network recently scored a major win in the General Mills review, and quite a few U.S.-based agencies have offices in Sydney. They include McCann, Leo Burnett, JWT, Razorfish, Grey, Havas, R/GA, MullenLowe and more…but not Droga5.

More details to come, of course.
