180 LA Account Exec Joins Up with Peace Corps

By Kiran Aditham

Yes Virginia, there is life beyond advertising and 180 LA’s Kelli Stam is proving it as the group account director is packing it up and departing for the Peace Corps in Nicaragua.

Stam, who has spent the last four years at 180 and has served as account director on Seventh Generation and Sony Electronics (which we also agency partner with), is leaving May 10 for a 27-month stint in Central American nation as a business educator and advisor. Stam, though, isn’t just jumping into the first so to speak as she’ll spend the first few months with a host family to gain knowledge of the language and culture before beginning her two-year assignment and live like the rest of the folks in her adopted community.

The ad exec, who spent five years as a brand director at L.A.’s now-absorbed Ground Zero before joining 180, says, “Having worked in the corporate world for more than 15 years, I hope to use my work as a Peace Corps volunteer to do good, and to give back to the communities in which I serve.”
