The Martin Agency today parted ways with chief creative officer Joe Alexander after more than 25 years.
“I am now able to confirm with you that, as of today, Joe Alexander is no longer with our company,” a spokesperson told Adweek.
The representative declined to answer specific questions regarding Alexander’s departure, saying only, “That’s all the information I have for you at this time.”
Alexander did not respond to emails or social media messages this evening.
Alexander joined the Richmond, Va., agency in 1991 after holding top creative roles at TBWA\Chiat\Day, Clarity Coverdale Fury and other shops.
In his 30-plus-year career, Alexander became an elder statesman in the ad industry, serving as president of the Cannes Lions film jury in 2016 and working on prominent campaigns for brands like Geico, Walmart and Benjamin Moore paint. This year, the 4A’s placed him on its list of 100 People Who Make Advertising Great.
He was promoted to chief creative officer at The Martin Agency in 2012, taking over for the departing John Norman.
