Grey global president Michael Houston announced today that the agency has hired Alex Morrison in the newly-created role of president of Grey West, tasked with overseeing the agency’s San Francisco and Los Angeles offices while working closely with Grey’s flagship New York office and recently-appointed Grey New York CEO Debby Reiner.
“We are delighted to welcome Alex Morrison back to Grey. Our success on the West Coast has given us the critical mass to create this new regional structure,” Houston said in a statement. “Alex is a natural to lead Grey West. His accomplished background in digital, content and one-to-one marketing is a perfect fit for our global Symantec Norton account and all of our clients.”
“It has been amazing to watch the resurgence of the Grey brand these past few years,” Morrison added. “There is plenty of room for growth on the West Coast and I’m delighted to lead the accomplished team we have in place serving our terrific clients.”
Morrison returns to Grey after spending over two years as vice president, global managing director for R/GA’s content studio, where he was tasked with growing the offering across 10 offices. Before that, he spent two and a half years with Grey New York as senior vice president, digital marketing director and also founded Grey’s content marketing group, Gravy Studios. Prior to joining Grey he spent four years as a partner and executive vice president of strategy at AgencyNet. He’s also the co-founder of New York-based music publisher and events company, NYCUG and social travel company CrowdTrotter.
