Deutsch has hired Dan Murphy as senior vice president, director of digital operations and production, effective as of today.
In the role, Murphy will work out of the agency’s New York office and oversee digital projects across the agency’s client roster, which includes Johnson & Johnson, Acuvue, PNC Bank and A-B InBev’s Busch brand, which named Deutsch as its lead creative agency last summer, while reporting to executive vice president, director of integrated production Joe Calabrese.
“We’re excited to welcome him. Dan’s creative mind, doer-mentality, and entrepreneurial spirit make him a great fit for Deutsch,” Calabrese said in a statement.
“Landing talent like Dan will be a game changer for the New York office. He makes impossible possible, and on top of that, is great to hang with,” added Deutsch North America chief digital officer Winston Binch.
Murphy arrives at Deutsch from Google Creative Lab, where he served as an executive producer and worked on the “Be Together. Not the Same.” campaign launch for Android, Androidify app and Google Trend’s FrightGeist, which won a Webby for visual design.
Prior to joining Google in September of 2014, he served in various interactive and integrated production roles at agencies including BBDO, Eleven, Saatchi & Saatchi and CP+B. He also co-founded VendorDB, a “comprehensive database of companies and service providers for the creative industries.”
“Deutsch is a perfect Goldilocks: big-agency resources to make important future bets and a small-shop culture un-allergic to change. I couldn’t be more excited to join the team,” Murphy said in a statement.
