The voice of Verizon, now on Broadway

Irony of no irony department: We recently went to a preview of the new Broadway production of On Golden Pond, starring James Earl Jones in the Henry Fonda part, floppy hat and all. It’s a mostly African American cast (Leslie Uggams plays the Kate Hepburn role), and the casting twist is brilliant and greatly refreshes a ’70s-era play. (No matter what the critics say later in the week, the audience loved it, and gave it a standing O.)
