U.K. gobsmacked as abortion ad runs on TV

Marie-Stopes

The U.K. has worked itself into a lather after the first abortion-services commercial has aired in the country. Pro-lifers are demanding that the spot below, for sexual-health charity Marie Stopes International, be banned until further notice. Their chief complaint is that Marie Stopes is using loopholes in British advertising law to shill abortions on public television, something that will "ride roughshod over the widely held and deeply felt objections of a very large section of the British public." The ad couldn't be less shocking in terms of content. I eagerly await the Advertising Standard Authority's decision on this, as I'm sure they'll be contacted soon. Perhaps next time they should make an ad like this, since they're going to be accused of extremism either way.
