Sit back and relax with a nice drink of bilk

Bilk As many standup comedians have noted, some people’s initial idea to improve any food is to somehow ferment it into alcohol. The Japanese have embraced this notion with a delicious new beverage: bilk. A beer made from milk. The plucky, 31-year-old Hokkaido brewery was initially against the idea but did it anyway. Mainichi Daily News reports that the beer “looked and smelled like tea with milk” at the start of the fermentation process. The final product looks a lot like normal beer and has “a fruity flavor that its brewers hope will be popular among women.” I can’t share their optimism, but it could be worse. This is Japan. They could be making beer from other things.
