Sears Wins Contest for Most Inappropriate T-Shirt of the Year Item is quickly pulled from online store
When it comes to the politics of provocative T-shirts, there are degrees of complexity and impropriety. JCPenney last year caused much anxiety and heated intellectual debate over gender roles with a T-shirt that read: "I'm too pretty to do homework so my brother has to do it for me." Sears has gone the simpler route to infamy with a shirt that is not prompting as much intellectual debate—one with the straightforward slogan "I ♥ butt plugs." It has since been removed from Sears' online store. So, rogue employee or completely useless T-shirt vetting process?
