Sean Penn—yeah, Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High—has once again decided to play journalist and has traveled to Iran to cover the presidential elections for the San Francisco Chronicle. It’s the second time Chronicle executive editor Phil Bronstein (aka ex-Mr. Sharon Stone) has sent Penn abroad as a reporter. Penn wrote a series of articles from Iraq in 2003. At that time, according to the paper, “Sean Penn went to Iraq … not as an actor but as a father, a husband and an American.”
