So, the takeaway I get from this press release, which suggests that more Americans know the ingredients in a Big Mac than know the Ten Commandments, is not that America is in such dire straits morally. Rather, I think God needs a snappier jingle. I mean who can’t—upon hearing it just once—repeat the iconic Big Mac song? “Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun” just rolls off the tongue better than “Covet not thy neighbor’s wife, while honoring thy father and mother.
