Planning on ringing in the New Year in style? It will cost
you—or the average American, at least—around $172, according to a new survey.
The “Shopping in America Holiday 2005” survey, conducted by real estate
investment trust Macerich Co., found that those of us who live in the Northeast
will outspend those elsewhere in the country. We’ll spend an average of $256
each. Midwesterners will be the most thrifty, spending an average of about $119
each.
