‘New York’ priorities, in red and black

Inspiration meets innovation at Brandweek, the ultimate marketing experience. Join industry luminaries, rising talent and strategic experts in Phoenix, Arizona this September 23–26 to assess challenges, develop solutions and create new pathways for growth. Register early to save.

The listings section in the back of New York magazine always opens the same way: with a 4.4-by-6.875-inch illustration that lists five “can’t-miss” upcoming events. Each week, the magazine selects a different illustrator or designer to create the illo. The rules: It has to include the names of the events, the dates of the week and the words “High Priority”; and it can feature only red and black as colors. Design Observer has posted 64 of these illustrations, and they’re a pleasure to scroll through, with plenty of interesting typography.
