Billboards in Japan are now using facial-recognition technology to identify the approximate age, ethnicity and gender of passersby. It's 85-90 percent accurate on the gender part, which is more than I can say for myself most of the time. For the Japanese, who are used to dealing with far more vexing threats, like Godzilla, this is apparently raising no privacy concerns. Frankly, I assumed billboards were already using high-tech means to watch our every move and read our minds.
