Don't love the Dove campaign

There’s something about this new campaign for Dove’s new Styling haircare line that bugs us. If you haven’t seen it, it features baby-boomer-friendly cartoon characters—like nerdy Velma from Scooby-Doo and Marge Simpson—with their hair re-styled.

While the visual of Marge with her blue hair flowing down her shoulders is certainly memorable, most of us choose not to look to cartoon characters for advice on how to avoid bad hair days. They’re cartoons! True, we’ve all seen that slo-mo shot of a live model swinging her hair to and fro in haircare commercials a zillion times (a neck movement, to be sure, not generally found in nature), but at least it shows us what the product actually does.
