The Tennessee Department of Tourism is exhuming Elvis Presley in the name of Graceland for a TV spot that will feature the King—spliced from a scene in Clambake—as a chauffeur for Smoky Mountains homegirl Dolly Parton. I love Dolly and hope that her natural charm will be enough to warm the dead because, on the whole, I’ve always found deceased celeb shills to be very, very creepy. From the way their lips move when they say their supposed lines to the general feeling of exploitation, it all sets my teeth on edge.
