Can it
Nothing like a good backlash to get the morning started right—this one involving the Bud ad that ran on the Super Bowl saluting the troops. According to this item, on Hardblogger, the blog for Hardball with Chris Matthews, some people (or at least, Paul Krugman, a columnist for The New York Times) think Anheuser-Busch was using our fighting men and women to—gulp—sell beer.
According to Capt. Chris Conley of Fort Hood, Texas, however, Bud actually used the game as a way to make a donation in the fashion to which the company is no doubt accustomed. It gave a beer donation to the U.S. military, enough brew, “that each soldier was allowed to have 2 beers during a 48-hour winzdow [sic] surrounding the game.”
A-B? This Bud’s for you.
