California looking into ads on license plates

California's efforts to relieve its $19 billion deficit and produce the worst drivers in the country might advance another step, as its legislature is mulling the possibility of electronic license plates that display digital ads when a vehicle stops for more than four seconds. The plates could also display Amber Alerts or traffic information. At least company, Smart Plate in San Francisco, is producing a prototype. Its CEO, M. Conrad Jordan, says the plates could go beyond ads and display the driver's allegiance to a sports team or an alma mater.
