Bob Lutz’s blog, karmic weenies, and so forth
Bob Lutz: It’s time to update your blog. You may have read that earlier this month, the General Motors vice chairman (pictured here, while not blogging) launched a blog here, filled with his observations about new Saturns, the Detroit Auto Show and so forth. The only problem is that while all of Detroit, and probably much of corporate America, is watching, he hasn’t updated his blog since Jan. 14. Get thee to a keyboard, Bob.
Speaking of which—if you missed it—Ogilvy & Mather’s Steve Hayden was quoted on the subject of blogs in the Jan. 10 issue of Fortune, saying, “If you fudge or lie on a blog, you are biting the karmic weenie.” We asked Google to define karmic weenie, and all we found were dozens of links to Hayden’s quote. In fact, Hayden’s comments about blogs proved so popular with Fortune readers that the mag published an online, extended-play version of its interview with him here. Though none of it quite reaches the sound-bite-ness of “karmic weenie,” it’s interesting reading for any marketing exec wondering what they should do about loudmouth consumers stating their opinions on blogs.
