Bing Crosby beatboxes in U.K. retailer spot
Here come the Christmas ads! Why not start them in July, you greedy bastards? Sorry, nipping last year's eggnog. Anyway, British retailer Argos goes the faux-'70s-TV-special route in this CHI & Partners spot, showing Bing Crosby beatboxing to his audience's delight. A kid in the crowd uses the chain's name as a verb ("He Argos-ed it"), which is like an early lump of coal in my stocking. Yes, I wear stockings. I'm OK with who I am. Here's a classic clip from Bing's 1977 seasonal show with guest David Bowie—always a welcome pairing beneath the tree.
