For the first time in his professional career, Al Pacino needs money badly enough to endorse something. That something is Vittoria coffee, an Australian brand whose original founders were Italian immigrants, which is part of the reason they chose Pacino. I'm sure his being famous and not having much to do lately didn't play into their decision at all. Aside from the ad's annoying tone—coffee addiction doesn't make anyone special in this day and age—director Barry Levinson seems to have set the camera to film in monochrome and left to go do something else.
