Newspapers need all the revenue they can get, but this crosses a line. According to the AP, an alleged street-gang member in Riverside, Calif., has been arrested for reportedly placing a bogus ad in the local paper promoting a garage sale—proceeds from which, the ad said, would benefit a “memorial fund” for the district attorney, Rod Pacheco, who happens to be tough on gangs. Chandler William Cardwell, 32, was booked on suspicion of making terrorist threats.
