3 Artists, 1 Song: Gorillaz, Andre 3000, James Murphy Rock Converse Project Extended track will blow your mind
Converse's latest 3 Artists, 1 Song collaboration, orchestrated by Cornerstone, brings together some of the project's biggest names yet: the Gorillaz, Andre 3000 and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem. Jamie Hewlett, co-creator and illustrator of the Gorillaz's onstage personas, created two new Gorillaz-esque caricatures for Andre 3000 and James Murphy, who, along with Gorillaz frontman 2D, are rendered in 3-D CGI over a real-life apartment in the new video. Hewlett also designed a new limited-edition collection of shoes, which appear in the video amid squalor and a delightful bowl of severed ears. The track, like all the previous Converse collaborations, is available as a free download. It's a good song, but with three monsters of this size, you'd imagine it would be an insane song that would blow your mind. Fortunately, the 13-minute version (which won't be available on the Gorillaz website until March 3, but you can hear it here) is everything you thought it would be, and gets really good right after the four-minute edit ends. Listen to hear Andre 3000 declare that he's "the shit" for close to seven minutes. Thing is, he's right.
