A series at the beginning of its run (BBC America’s freshman drama Killing Eve) and one at the very end of it (FX’s The Americans, which signed off last month after six seasons) racked up the most nominations today as the Television Critics Association announced its 2018 TCA Awards nominees.

The TCA, which is comprised of more than 200 North American TV critics and journalists (including myself), honors outstanding television programming. The organization often recognizes acclaimed shows that Emmy voters overlook—like NBC’s The Good Place, Netflix’s One Day at a Time and CBS All Access’ The Good Fight—and can give a boost to freshman series like Killing Eve and Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs.
